Don’t Breathe (2016)

Plot: A group of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist. They’re very wrong.

Review: Don’t Breathe is getting amazing reviews, and it is so for a good reason. Fede Alvarez, who also directed Evil Dead, has done it once again! The acting, storyline, the suspense were all well thought out.

While watching the movie, I could see a lot of influences taken from other movies, such as: The People Under the Stairs,  The Collector, The Silence of the Lambs, Cujo, to name a few.

So far, this is the horror of the year. The one thing that would have been nice to see is more gore. There were many chances for it. Perhaps the director’s cut will add it in.

Highly recommended and to make it a marathon watch the movies I mentioned above, that helped to influence Don’t Breathe.

FYI: Fede Álvarez got inspiration for this movie on growing up in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Genre: disturbing, crime, home invasion

Rating: 5 Hammer Smashed Faces out of 5
